I got rejected. I also applied to be the GM of Hired.com Singapore's office. That did not happen as well. I did not have that Ivy League degree and I never worked at one of those BIG 3 consulting firms. Neither do I have the start-up history that is almost a pre-requisite. Those rejections drove me to go deep into HR Tech and start to write about that topic. After years and hundreds of articles, I landed a role in an enterprise HR Tech company and became known as one of the global HR tech influencers. Thinking back to those rejections, it still hurts. At the same time, I'm SO glad it happened. Because that helped create the person I am now. Being passed over may seem like a bad thing. But if you can capitalise on it, that might be what is needed to bring you to where you want to be. And that became my favourite rejection What about you? What is your favourite rejection? Have a great week! Adrian

📱Software/app RecommendationsOne issue about working from home is the isolation from everyone. Zoom meetings may allow us to connect but it does not replicate the actual experience of in-person. Cosmos creates a virtual shared workspace to help you do just that. At first glance, it looks like an old school console game but is for collaboration purposes. There is even a proximity feature so you can only hear (and speak with) others when you are near. You can also make use of their whiteboard, games and screen share feature to make your virtual meeting more productive. Importantly, it feels like a game and not a chore. The level of engagement is way off the charts compared to a typical video call.
📢 AnnouncementsThe ability to start a newsletter on LinkedIn appeared for me about 10 weeks ago. I thought why not and started sharing my longer form essays there. It is free and there are so far 8,131 subscribers.
