Hey friends, 🤯
That was my reaction when I received the pre-interview questionnaire from StaffAny, one of the companies I interviewed at prior to starting my current marketing agency - Marketing Sumo. Besides the standard ones like my expected start date, why StaffAny, etc, question 4 stopped me in my tracks. “Can you share instead of what we want you to do, what do you think you can do best for StaffAny - "Reverse" - send your expected Job description. We are also looking at optimizing for strengths” Despite 17 years of HR sector experience (12 of them in #recruitment), I have seen more Reverse in UNO than in the pre-interview questionnaire. It reminded me of the emphasis of StrengthsFinder: work on your strength and around your weakness. And it speaks volumes of their people emphasis and strategy. For every company that is struggling to hire, perhaps you may want to consider this Reverse Job Ad approach. Stop the constant lookout for Mr(or Mrs) Perfect and simply optimise for someone’s strength and have them contribute without the constraint of a linear job description. Happy to hear what you think.
Have a great week! Adrian
🎧My favourite podcastOne of my go-to whenever I need a mood lifter or something light-hearted to accompany my work grind, Conan and his team nails it by delivering the same high quality comedic relief through episodic podcasts. I personally enjoy the episode where he hosted President Barack Obama.
📱Software/app RecommendationsDespite being a Windows user for more than 3 decades, I still cannot figure out the screenshot capture tool. It just seems so clunky to me, with one too many steps . Instead I use Ginj as a replacement as it allows screen capture and annotation with just your mouse. You can also add text and the app is easily accessible via a floating semi circle button that rests on the edge of your screen.

💁♂️LinkedIn Tip of the week(Excerpts from my LinkedIn course) LinkedIn Creator ModeIf you wish to maximise your LinkedIn for reach, you need to switch on Creator Mode. Creator mode is a profile setting on your dashboard that can help you grow your reach and influence on LinkedIn. You can turn on creator mode to get access to additional tools and features that help you create content and grow your audience base on LinkedIn. Once you turn on creator mode: - The Connect button on your profile will change to Follow. It’ll display the number of followers you have in your profile introduction.
- You can display the topics you post about in your profile introduction as hashtags. This will make it easier for other LinkedIn members to discover your content and follow you.
- Your original content will be highlighted by moving your Featured and Activity sections to be first on your profile. In addition, the Activity section on your profile will no longer include your likes, comments and other activities (They will still be available when you click on See all activity).
- You become eligible to be featured as a suggested creator to follow so potential followers can discover you and your content across LinkedIn.
- You can get access to creator tools such as LinkedIn Live Video and LinkedIn Newsletter if you meet the access criteria.
