Pickles take time to develop their dill-icious flavor. Cucumbers have to sit in brine until theyβre ready. Building digital art skills works the same way. Students practice to level up their abilities. Whether itβs pickles or pixels, the lesson is clear: change comes with patience and persistence. The Dill Pickle Zipper is made from simple shapes: block arcs and circles, with a trapezoid for the stem. The Google Slides and Google Drawings files include 4 animated GIFs that show how to draw a rounded arc, which is the main shape of the pickle and its dimples.
Level = Growing Green β¬οΈπ©β¬οΈβ¬οΈβ¬οΈ It seems jarring that the pickle takes 35 shapes in total. The process begins with just one block arc and two circles that form a rounded arc. By grouping, duplicating, resizing, recoloring, and rotating, that single rounded arc is transformed into all the dimples. Itβs actually a simple recipe that turns anyone into a true dill-istrator.

The Shapegrams PDF September 2025 UpdateIβve updated the Shapegrams PDF! Itβs packed with dozens of one-pagers highlighting digital art tools and techniques in Google Slides and Google Drawings. I refreshed the pages to match Googleβs latest update: selected objects no longer show 8 blue squares but instead display 4 corner circles with pill-shaped side handles. I also updated the posters that reference moving objects with arrow keys and resizing groups. Head to shapegrams.com/PDF to preview sample pages and browse the full table of contents.
