Robots are fun to draw with shapes! We've got a Robot Lesson that helps students learn to group shapes together and then duplicate, rotate, and align those groups.

The Robot is a great candidate to turn into a digital stop motion animation. The Shapegrams Stop Motion Lesson shows students how to animate their drawings in Google Slides. Read more and preview the Stop Motion Lesson in this blog post.

Check out how Maria O'Regan's Chromebook computer elective at RCMS in Rancho Cucamonga, California animated their Shapegrams drawings. Many of their digital stop motion masterpieces feature our gray robot friend!

Our other robot-themed Shapegram is the Robot Head Zipper. Students are invited to draw a robot's head. It may not have a "bot-y," but it can be drawn using only three kinds of shapes: circles, rectangles, and round same side corner rectangles.

Free Professional Learning about Artificial Intelligence

Week of AI started today and continues all week. There are about 10 live sessions offered everyday, and they are free!

I'm presenting "From Prompts to Pictures: Creative Illustrations with AI." Tune in live on YouTube Tuesday, May 14 from 8:00-8:30 PM Eastern Time. The replay will be available at the same link. The presentation is about editing and creating visuals using free artificial intelligence tools, including Canva, Microsoft Designer, Ideogram, and Recraft.

There are a lot of AI image generators out there. I compiled the ones I use into this chart. See some of them in action, see my classroom examples, and see how to apply divergent thinking to your image prompts.

Although AI can create impressive artwork, it can never replace the unique artistry of humans. Shapegrams empower learners with the skills and the mindset needed to thrive as digital artists.
