Some people find candy corn EARresistible, while others think it is EARitating. Sure, it is a bit like eating a candle, but its yellow, orange, and white layers are iconic. The newest Shapegram helps students create a custom candy corn gradient. Instead of blending colors together, this gradient changes colors suddenly to make clean stripes.

Level = Progressing Purple ⬜️⬜️🟪⬜️⬜️ Hard Stop GradientA gradient with solid, sudden color changes is called a hard stop gradient. It is made by placing gradient stops right on top of each other so the colors do not blend. Creating this type of gradient can be CORNfusing. The Candy Corn Gradient Shapegram includes step by step directions to help students build the hard stop gradient, and teachers can download a PDF version to display or share.
Use the Gradient Again and AgainOnce students make a custom gradient in Google Slides, they can use it to fill other shapes and word art. The custom gradient will appear under Fill color → Gradient, right along with the built in options. Custom gradients stay inside the presentation where they were created. If you want the same gradient in a new presentation, copy a shape that uses it and paste it into the new file. The gradient will then appear in that presentation’s Gradient menu. Students can use the gradient to make any shape or word art look aMAIZEing.
